Default RB320 Suspension recommended rim dia./width/offset & tire size parameters

I searched, and have not seen a thread like this so here it goes, and sorry if i sound like a newbie but...

I plan on running the new RB320 suspension on my MY07 STI in the near future, and I was curious what the rim dia./width/offset & tire size parameters are for a otherwise stock car (including fenders), in both the preferred road and track settings. I also plan to get the rear sway and some Group N tophats, but that is about it. This is my DD. Right now I think some RA-R wheels and 235/40ZR18 are in my fure but I am also leaning towards a set of ADVAN RGII's or RS's in 18x8.5-9 and would really like to know what tires and offests will work with these sizes.

I was also curious if there were any "ideal" sizes recommended by prodrive. I did see somewhere that the RB320 runs a 225/45ZR18 somehwere but now I cannot find it.

I will be forwarding this thread to RCE and maybe the can help out.

Road setting (Rear anti-roll bar in 2nd hole, nearest the end of the bar)

Values are read: minimum / preferred / maximum

Front Camber -1°20’ / -1°15’ / -1°10’

Front Toe-in (Total) 0°02’ / 0°06’ / 0°10’

Front Caster / 3°00’ (Referential value) /

Rear Camber -2°15’ / -1°30’ / -0°54’(Std Subaru tolerance)

Rear Toe-in (Total) 0°02’ / 0°60’ / 0°10’

Thrust angle -0°01’ / 0°00’ / 0°01’

Track setting (Rear anti roll bar in 1st hole, nearest the mounting bush on the bar)

Values are read: preferred

Front Camber -1°30’(Maximum negative on adjustment)

Front Toe-in (Total) 0°06’

Front Caster 3°00’ (Referential value)

Rear Camber -1°30’(Standard Subaru)

Rear Toe-in (Total) 0°06’

Thrust angle 0°00’

I would do a 18x8 or an 18x8.5 wheel with either a 235/40 or a 245/40 tires. That won't rub, but you can't go much wider or taller. To be safe, and since your car is strictly a DD, go with the 235's.

RA-R wheels with 235's would be nice.

What about a RGII in a 18x8.5 +50

that would work without issue with a 235/40/18.

going wider on the RB setup is yet to be determined, I need to find someone who's willing to let me slap my different wheels on to test clearances and rear suspension travel.

I wonder if 255/35 or 245/35 would fit with a little fender manipulation?

of course it will.

just a matter of how much manipulation you're willing to do.

RE01R in 255/35/18 on some 18x8.5 +50mm RGIIs would be perdy nice.

It is funny that you bring up the RE01R... How much manipulation are we talking?

rear camber, dremel, small hammer.

it seems to differ on everyones car.

for example crewcheif has 18x8.5 +45mm wheels and 255 tires and doesn't rub on RCE yellows where NandanRP tested (and loved) Boondocksaint's 17x8.5 +51mm wheels with 255 tires and rubbed in the rear on pinks.

Boony's tires are obviously wider than crewcheifs.

so will it rub? it's hard to say, but if you're willing to do a little add rear camber (more negative), grinding, or slight beating with a hammer the RE01Rs should fit with a +50mm offset.

I have been looking @ soom Enkei RC-T4 18x8.5 48+ w/ 235/40s. I like the flushness of this offset. What do you guys think about the chanceo fit rubbing are rub? I do not want to stray from the Prodrive recommended alignment setting.

What offsets in a 18x8.5 + 235/40 would rubbing start to be an issue?

it depends on your suspension and how much camber you're willing to run.
