Default Protune at MZM?

I just got a date scheduled for a protune for my meth kit down at MZM. I'm looking for anyone's past experiences with them good or bad. I'm pretty sure they are a reputable tuner, but just looking for advice and reviews. I'm from Amarillo, so it's quite the drive down to Austin and want to make sure I'm getting the best for my money cause they sure seem very expensive. I think I'm looking at $600 or so for a tune from them.

Also, I used to live in Copperas Cove, but never visited Austin too much, and my son wants to come with me. Where can I take him for a little fun!?!?

You could always head go tubing on the Comal river. That's my favorite thing to do when I go down there.

How early in advance do you need to book a protune at MZM? I think im going to be doing one in early spring next year.

MZM is a very reputable shop ergo the pricing..but it's not that much for a tune. as long as they don't install it u'd be alright... it just depends RGT couple of months ago they were BOOKED! b/c all the cars had to get done for shows and races.

how old is your son? there are 2 entertainment places on the north austin side within 20 minutes of MZM. One is Main Event and the other is Austin Park and Pizza. you can look them up online. There is also a small water park called Volenta(spelling is a little off i think) Beach on lake travis. not to great but is within 30 minutes.

as far as MZM, they are good at what they do. Been doing it for a good while. I haven't gotten my tune from them yet but will here shortly just waiting on some money and parts to come in.

and as steve said depending on show and race season depends on how booked they are best bet is to call atleast 2 months before you want to get it done just to make sure.

mzm , go some where else bro, but thats just my .02 cents. Ive was only just protuned by them twice 3yrs ago, 2nd protune was only twice as bad as the first.

i would pm Darkshadow (keith) same as awdtuning.com

Keith can tune.

Wow, thank for all the replies. I was lucky and got a date for next week!! My son is only 10, so I think a lot of the entertainment industry is going to have to be saved for at least another 8 to 11 years.

I wanna say that I remember seeing a lot of good things about them, that's why I called them. JAVSTI, what was so bad about your experience/tune? I was actually planning on being tuned by Keith, but he doesn't have the capabilities to tune for the AP unless I had a copy of the new street tuner, but that isn't being released until winter. I don't think I can wait that long!! I've already had this kit laying around for the last month, and just got around to installing last weekend.

On another note......I'm not getting an RPM signal?? I thought I tapped the right wire. There's not a lot of info on the RPM wire for 06 STI's. I have a copy of the ECU diagram for an 06 WRX, but I'm guessing they changed up a few things between the STI and WRX. I was metering a small AC signal off the wire I tapped that fluctuated with RPM, but it could be something else. Everyone says its usually a green wire, but the one I used was a yellow with black stripe. There was a green wire one pin over, so I'll take some readings from it tonight and see if it's the right one. I kinda need this running before I get there next week. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I'm hoping the next wire will be the correct wire, just wish I had a schematic for an 06 STI. It's frustrating because 99% of the time I have my wiring right, although I usually have the proper documentation as well.

On the wrx models the tach is in pin 9 of the 24 pin plug. On the STi models the tach is in pin 23 of the 34 pin plug. it's usually is green when thats what i read and thats what i had mine tapped to.
And why jav's but hurt about mzm LOL cause the dude can' t drive..screws up his car blames it on everyone, but himself, but begs other ppl to fix it and ****. man thats one guys opinion u nver want to listen. and now he's selling his car cause he can't handle the "stress" or some bs like that

haha main event and austin park and pizza are kinda tailored towards kids, esp. austin park and pizza. its like a big arcade, lazer tag, go carts, putt-putt. just an idea.

Thumbs up Re: Protune at MZM?

MZM is good bro. I got my WRX and STI tuned by them and was very pleased. The other guys are right about the wait though, they get pretty busy, but in my opinion is worth the wait. Im gonna use them again for my rotated mount build.

make sure you post your numbers and when you go to get tuned bring more money just in case they run into a problem.

here we go again bro, how did i screw up my own car??? they are the ones who left me running 15:1 thats what you call a great tuner .

on another note go open ecu over the ap, open ecu is far more advanced in the tuning capabilities then the ap and streettuner combined.

I seriously doubt the 15:1. Tell yourself what ever you need to to make yourself feel better.
