You think the bracing does that much? Yes the EJ207 is better, but because of the heads, not so much the bracing IMHO.

Yes the bracing allows it to handle much more boost while keeping the cylinders true. Why do you think the ultimate(according to some) suby motor is the fully closed deck EJ22? If there was no reason to have bracing then why does every motor that makes monster power either have bracing or is fully closed deck? Most of those turbo honda motors you mentioned have a plate pressed or welded in making them a semi or full closed deck to keep the cylinders in line. At high boost and RPM you could actually have the cylinder move a little bit in relation to the head, not a good thing.

I know what bracing does (and the EJ22T is overrated, likes to overheat as well). However, the bracing is not what makes that engine so great (but it is a plus). It is the heads. You could swap EJ207 heads on a EJ205 and make great power with a 20G, etc. The block would be fine. Now if you went up to say a 30r / 35r, then the bracing would make a difference. People underestimate the strength of the open deck 2.0T (EJ205).

the cylinder walls are also thicker on the 207^ compared to the 257.
