Default Tip on crystal clear windshields; urban legend, or reality?

To be frank, I suck at cleaning my car. Point blank I can never get it right no matter how much attention I give it. Usually the rain does a good job for me with the exception of the inside windshield.

I gave it one more chance yesterday after peering through a greasy, nasty windshield for the last month but instead of using just windex and wiping it down, I went with the suggestion given to me by a neighbor....

Newspaper.

I had actually heard about this before but didn't bother thinking that it was just a legend but I'll tell you what, it works.

I took some generic windex, a couple pieces of newspaper, sprayed down the glass and gave it some side to side motion and after about a minute. The windshield was sparkling.

The true test is my drive to work before daylight.....crystal clear.

Hope this could be of some use to you all.

Chris

Invisible Glass made by Stoners and several different "window" specific MF towels will work fine

I have been using newspaper to clean glass since I was a wee ladd and my mom made me clean all the glass table tops outside. I use it on my car all the time. My girlfriend saw me doing it and she looked at me like I was crazy, but she was looking at me through some clean ******g glass! I use invisible glass as well. It is pretty solid

Ivisible Glass + Glass MF Towel FTW!

I posted a similar question on NASIOC (how to get clean glass) because of the humidity in the summer I would always get streaks -- they recommended IV and I haven't gone back!

Newsflash!

They invented the microfiber towel about 5 years ago... If your not cleaning and washing your car without one, your lost!

I use Stoner's Invisible Glass and "Thief" glass towels. The key to getting a clean windshield is to make sure you use an appropriate towel.

Ummm what? So if you're not using it you're fine, if you're using it you're lost?

This thread is so funny. People just can't let a good deed go unpunished on here. He posted up a tip on something that works well and is free (newspapers to clean glass). Yes we all know microfiber works just as well or better. It doesn't have anything to do with what he posted.

If he killed a deer with a bow and arrow, would you all post up about how much easier it is to kill one with a rifle? Just sayin'.
