IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I'm such an idiot - I took my wheels off to clean them and did not take note of proper orientation for putting them back on. Duhh!! They are back on, as follows: Wider of the 4 sets of tread on the outside. So, from outside in: wide tread set, narrowish (pair of) treadless band, narrow tread set, narrow tread set. Forgive my amateurish description, for that is what I am, Is this right? I was at the dealer last week and this did not seem to match what they had on the '09 STis that are now in stock. Could someone please advise me on correct orientation? Also, what is the best technique (other than memory) of keeping track of which wheel goes where when they are removed for cleaning, storage, etc. Thanks very much This ad is not endorsed by this member. People mark their tires with either a grease pencil or chalk. You could also mark your wheel with some painters tape or something like that. Edit - specifically answering your question - wider tread blocks on the outside see this pic from tirerack Last edited by Slimey; 09-13-2008 at 10:21 AM. |

| Junior STI Driver | Unless that is, you've found some way to mount the wheel backwards... lol look at that DISH! ![]() All 4 tires are identical and non directional, but there IS an inside outside. The wider blocks are the outside edge. As Slimey stated, you have nothing to worry about unless you actually unmounted the tires from the wheels (i.e. mount and balance). If anything, you may want to mark them as stated above to maintain tire rotation position for each corner, (i.e. LF, LR, RF, RR). This way they get rotated correctly when the time comes. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Thanks guys. I wasn't aware they not directional. Are there any likely impacts to changing left and right hand sides? Thanks again.
