| Amateur STI Driver | I have searched and searched and I cannot seem to come up with the right answer! What size are the stock speakers in my 08 STi? Are they the same as my 04 (6.5inch comps in the front and 5 1/4 in the rear)? I am trying to figure out what I need ASAP because the stock system is a joke and I want to know if I can put my stuff from my 04 in or not. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks! | Authorized Vendor | The speakers aren't the best I have ever heard, but they aren't half bad. I haven't changed them after swapping the head unit for a D3 and I have a pair of Polks sitting around the shop. |

| Amateur STI Driver | I was trying to avoid taking off the door panels. But it looks like my questions were answered. So it is 6 1/2 all around then. Well I can keep my MB Quart fronts but I will have to put my rears up for sale. Also I am keeping the factory NAV unit but upgrading something (sorry forgot the name of it) that will double it's output, as well as amping all of the speakers. Thanks everyone. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | You can also call Crutchfield and get more detailed dimensions. I did and they told me that the opening clearance is 4.8", which means the magnets on many speakers (Infinity Kappa's for ex. at 5.0-5.2") will require metal trimming. The front clearance is ~0.9", iirc, so you may also need to use spacers to keep the grill off the tweeter if you use a 2-way (Kappas, again, are 1.3" for 62.9i's). The back clearance is acceptable at 2.75". Frank |

| Amateur STI Driver | I am a bit of a quality sound freak so I have some pretty decent speakers that I already knew would require spacers etc (MB Quartz Q-line's). I will try and do a detailed write up with pictures when the stereo gets done over the next couple of weeks. Thanks again guys, Brad |
