Buying Used AP

Hey everybody,
I know this might be a noob question, but I've searched and haven't had much luck.
What I am wondering is if I can buy any V2 AP, or if i have to get the one specific for my year (08 obviously)?
And if there are differences between the AP's for different model years, what are they?
I would like to save some money and buy used if possible, but if I have to buy new I will.

i bought mine off ebay for $400 for my 08 STI. The guy was selling the car for a Porsche Cayenne truck so... Anyway its all good its actually like brand new, just make sure it is unmarried (uninstalled) from previous car or else it wont work on yours.

ok...thanks for the input but that doesn't really answer my question. I'm wondering if any AP V2 will work on my car

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT MAPS INSTALLED! If you have the wrong ones "BOOM"!

Check for the part #. It should be AP-SUB-003 for 08 STI.
