Default 16psi of Boost

Just got a Defi Boost guage installed from a local shop. Car is completely stock except and is showing 16psi of boost at full power? Is this normal?

I thought stock was 14.7psi? Also car has 900 miles on it.

08 STI, have a catless DP and exhaust - on my boost gauge, peak is usually about 17.5 psi. Check engine comes on at 19psi FYI. Never checked stock boost though stock tune btw

I just ran my car up to 6200RPM and the boost stayed steady at 16PSI. Is this normal? I thought that boost should start falling after 5500RPM. Any ideas?

I think thats normal cause I've heard defi gauges read high. Not sure about the top end holding 16 psi though.

Does it 'feel' like it's still holding boost? And what gears are you doing this?

if you mean if its still pulling, not that much at after 5th gear. I pulled my codes with a reader and it hit 19 psi at 5200 rpm in 6th causing an overboost error. The usual fuel cut, traction and cruise control started lighting up.

After a reset, all is well, should just remember not to do a flat out run in 6th gear

I'm using a Sard electric gauge w/peak hold btw

I have a stock 06 with the same guage setup. My car will hit around 16psi from 3rd gear on and about 13.5-14.5psi in 1st and 2nd. The guage will hit around 16psi for a second but then tapers to about 15psi. It's hard to notice the taper unless you're viewing a recorded run and looking at the guage straight on (not from an angle).

It also depends on when you go WOT. For example, I've seen the gauge spike to a little over 16psi if I go WOT in 5th or 6th gear from low rpms (not recommended), but I still get the taper.

It feels like its holding boost. This is for both 3rd and 4th gear. I haven't redlined yet since I am still in break in period.

Its pretty steady at 16PSI in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. I was cruising on the highway in 6th at 65MPH and then punched it. The boost hit 16 PSI and stayed there. I let off after a few seconds.

No Tapering yet although the power feels constant. I will run it again and pay closer attention.

THANKS EVERYONE!! GREAT FEEDBACK.
