IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Just thought i'd get this posted into the the 08 tech forum (where it probably should be to get best feedback) sorry for the big pic below, but i wanted a clear shot of the problem harness connector Quote: Originally Posted by S'poreSTI Just got this in the mail from Japanparts, Boost and Oil Temp package. ![]() Need get it installed obviously, but theres a lot of wires, and of course the instructions all in Japanese . might be a job for the dealer, so i can keep my manicure looking good![]() ![]() Well, the install today at the dealer was a fail . Everything went well until it was time to hookup the harness for the gauge power (pictured below) the Tech pretty much had the whole interior pulled apart, and 5 different people looked including myself, but it seems the USDM model just doesnt have the connector required for plug & play install ![]() (the japanese instructions have the required connection point just next to the fusebox, but no-one could find anything that it would fit ). Its not game over, the power cables could be spliced into an existing harness somewhere, but it sure would be nice if we could just do the 'easy install'. I decided to stop and do more research before going for full install, so currently i have the sensors installed & wires ran into the cabin Anyone out there have any insight into this, help is much appreciated! or am i the first 08 owner daft enough to order this particular gauge set? ![]() This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Amateur STI Driver | We had the same problem..... The jdm electricals are different..... The solution is to cut the jdm hardness and install it as any other aftermarket gauges( Defi's in this case), +, -, sending units, etc..... Also you will find out that the template doesn't work, because is for the right hand cluster housing.... Just locate them, so they are simmetrical and drill the holes.... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I don't really get it. It's not like these come with some super nice mount. Why wouldn't you just get Defi BF's that mount and perform the exact same(Subaru JDM OEM is made by defi), while at the same time giving you logging capability? |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Maybe he wants something that looks identical to what is in the dash? I don't care what anyone says, the Defi gauges don't match. They're close, they look good, but they don't look the same as the OEM stuff. Besides, since you have to buy the link as as well, boost + oil temp + link would wind up costing you almost the same price. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (11) | The ONLY thing about the Defi amber BF's that doesn't match the OEM cluster is the needle. I have Defi's on both my 05 and 08 and the gauge color is a perfect match. The needles are different in the 08. |
