| Junior STI Driver | Had my STI for three weeks now, over 1k miles on my Baby.Oil changed and ready for some upgrades.Love it! This Turbo thing is all new to me,just sold my Vw r32. I recently installed Agency Power Cold Air Intake, and INvidia Catted Downpipe .Car runs great ,and with OEM Exhaust is quiet ,and yet very powerful, but the ECU begs for some fine tuning, especially after CAI and Downpipe were installed.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, which ECU Flash would be the best for my needs.I do not race the car,but do some Autocrossing, and the car is a daily driver. Do not want to blow that thing up,and really would like to keep the car for a while. I am in Fairfield County,Connecticut .Who would you recomend to do the job??? For real man, if you got a DP and CAI you will need a tune. Go buy an AccessPORT and find a local tuner and get it tuned! CobbTuning.com - 08 STi AccessPORT | |

Just get a nice up-rated dry media drop in filter and call it a day! Seriously get a tune ASAP, STI's in general do not like certain mods without a proper tune not to mention the fact the the OEM maps are notoriously pretty crappy! Do a quick search and bring your self up to speed with which mods are healty for your car etc and since you are new to the Subie game you may want to check out this for a few seconds: Unabomber's Manifesto - NASIOC Lots of good info to get you started! Congratulations on the new ride!! ![]() enjoy! |

| Junior STI Driver | Thank you all for the info!! Got the car tuned (Cobb)and Dynoed. The car runs much better than stock, and I am getting better Fuel Economy. Agency Power CAI,Invidia Catted Downipe make a huge difference. No CEL!! Boxer Engine Sound is slighly more audible, but with OEM Exhaust which is almost as free flowing as any aftermarket stuff, the car is quiet and powerfull. That is what I wanted.More power down low,and no noise. Thanks again for all the tips!! As far as VW R32 goes.I miss it somewhat, but the STI is a much better car. |

Always nice to compare, realizing that figures can fluctuate dramatically due to dyno/condition variability. I was with you re the quiet power the stock CBE gives you....but when Magnaflow called and I had the chance for a free CBE (which is perfectly aligned), I couldn't say no. I'm still open to a sub $500 axleback to give me some more rumble than stock. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Get the COBB AP. Flash that thing ASAP, I would seriously take the CAI and the exhaust off today and drive around with it stock until you can get it pro tuned. These things are real finicky like that... Too bad you wasted you $ on a CAI, the stock box with a K&N drop in is good for 350 hp... WELCOME This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
