Thumbs down CEL turned on after DP install NEED HELP
hey guys i just installed an invidia Catless DP I was out driving around getting the car used to it and after 1-130 hours later my CEl turned on my S light and my cruise control light started flashing i was just wondering if you guys had any idea what went wrong?

catless dp will trigger a p0420. Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold.

ecu is sensing you no longer have a cat. you need a mechanical cel fix.

cel turning off after a catless downpipe would usually have something to do with the o2 sensor. There are different ways to fix it that I'm sure someone could explain better than i could. I know there is a mechanical way to fix it where you move the o2 sensor out of the exhaust flow, and you can fix it electrically as well with some sort of resistor.

when i installed my DP i just drilled out a spark plug anti-fouler with a 1/2" bit, put that in the DP bung, and put the o2 sensor into that = no CEL. i dont know if this woulda prevented the code you're getting but either way, i've never had a CEL.

you need to buy engine management with that downpipe ASAP. I'm an surprised people still do no know this.

The Cobb stage 2 map suppresses that CEL code.

I was under the assumption, that even though the code for p0420 is suppressed by say a Cobb AP, the ecu will send a PFFFE CEL, which is a pending code.

I'd still rather do the mechanical fix along with a reflash.

the sti is different from the wrx... running without EM can be very bad.

It is certainly a mechanical issue, regardless, EM is still needed. Maybe you're mod + EM is the best bet.
