| Professional STI Driver | ![]() Still new to this community and have read a lot of threads over various topics, but I haven't come across to many people working on their cams, pistons, blocks, etc. I know the MY08 is a newer design and I haven't really delved into whats actually different engine-wise, but I know there a few floaters from the other models that are wanting to try this new engine out. I just found out that Cosworth makes parts for these engines, including completes builds. Obviously, they are a bit pricey and completely over-the-top in terms of engineering and manufacturing, to what the normal track star or urban hunter would use. But, I'm the type of person who can stare at an engine and get lost into all the work that was done and relish in all the high level engineering and precision involved! Too bad this stuff cost so much, but it would make for a good drawn out project car for someone in his 30's. Hmmm... -Garrett This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I know Auto Master of Westchester - Home of the Worlds Highest Horsepower Stock ECU Daily Driven STi is doing it and I'm pretty sure Harman Motive Shop is doing it....and they both actively post on this site. Gruppe-S, Axis Power, and Element tuning are probably making internals/building engines for the 08s also. Hope this helps. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I'm considering the Cosworth engine as the last of series of planned upgrades ie bushings, suspension etc. This will give me enough time to save the money and for the engine warranty to runout (at 16k now) |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | We have cosworth pistons in our 08 time attack car running a 3071 rotated setup making about 400whp and tq on 100 octane through a high flow cat. We are also running the complete Cosworth 2.6L stroker long block in our 06 STi with a 35r rotated kit making over 500whp on race gas through a hi flow cat. The Cosworth stuff isnt cheap, but it certainly can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. Heres some more info on our 08 build: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2008-sti...post-22-a.html |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Jeff Sponaugle has CP Pistons in his car- no change in the pistons from '07. The last issue of Subie Sport had articles on the Harman car and on Jeff's car. The article on Jeff's car included a summary of all the things that changed/stayed the same with the '08 engine. I might be able to paste it in later. Frank |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Redline Time Attack Street Class regulations require the use of a catalytic converter. Next season we will be in the Modified class with our 06 and will be catless. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
