08 STI- Accessport trouble with Perrin Map

Ok, here's the situation, like I said I purchased AP from Perrin and got the map for my new 08 STI... only had about 58KM on it when I flashed.. anyhow, at first when I plugged it in and tried to install, got some communication error and told me to plug it in harder and turn key on off.. then finally worked, saved stock map then when it went to install perrin, it just went back to the main menu... lol

So I tried it again, same thing, then I thought, hey maybe it's the map... so I used the Cobb stage1 93 instead and it worked! So I'm wondering did I do anything wrong or damaged anything? And the biggest question: "Why can't I load the Perrin map!"

Any info is appreciated! Btw, this car is crazy... just holding my RPM to 3500 for now and I can feel it's way faster than my 06 WRX... not even going more than 40%ish throttle too...

Easiest answer is call perrin. They owe me a map 2 but i decided to wait till i get more mods since its a custom map.

I will but my main concern is did I flash it correctly, it said successful the 3rd time with Cobb mapping... I just don't want something messed up lol, I drove around for 45mins seem ok... I wanted to keep it plugged in to monitor boost and such but the connection is so flimsy.. like loose on the OBDII connector so I didn't wanna test it... is it that loose for all years?

Is your AP updated to the most recent version?

This exact thing happened to me, too! I updated it all... loaded a Cobb map first, and THEN loaded a Perrin map, and it worked fine.

Try uploading the Perrin map now. If not, they may have to re-send a map to you.

Yeah everything is most recent, I doubled checked... I'll run with cobb for now, i'll swap to perrin later when i'm done breaking in at least or so...

WRXGuy!! How did you managed to load yours! I want to test this map out because I feel alot of dead pedal and a surge or power coming at around 3k RPM with the 1.01 cobb which I dislike...

Flash have u tried reloading the map to the AP ?? I had trouble seeing the perrin map when i went to load it up the first time.

I had to go back and reload the map to the ap twice before it finally let me select it from the menu.

What's the name of the MAP? IIRC mine said V3 and was twice the file size as the cob one. The Perrin S2 file was smaller however.

BTW, what stage file are you talking about?

Hmm lets see.. the size of the map is around 7k (6941 to be exact), the name is basically all my info, visa, phone, address, name, email then 2008 STI Stage 1 93 Octane... stock everything.. Version is 1.00

And to ELKwood, yes I re-uploaded the map again and downloaded again from email as well, also did the firmware upgrade again, even though it's the most updated one before. Nothing happens when I try to flash it, all it does it shows it's preparing the map and such then goes back to the main menu on AP... doesn't even say error or anything

Perrin was closed today so I couldn't get anything from them, also I sent an email to Jeff days ago asking if he could send a custom map with SI-Drive settings not detuned for boost, no reply.. so I don't know what's up

Just want to try this map, even though it's free, I want to see if it clears up the slight lag or so at 3000 rpm on part throttle conditions... makes the car feel slow unless I push more than 30% throttle...

my perrin stage 1 93 oct map was 12.2kb and it loaded fine...

wow 12k... unless you got a diff version or they did something, mine is almost half the size of yours... when did you get yours and is it version 1.00?

you can try checking the properties of the Perrin map, to see if it is for the correct vehicle.

Do you get any error messages when trying to load the map to the AP or the ECU?

It says it's for my vehicle... no errors when uploading to AP.. when I upload to ECU it just goes back to main menu.. no error codes or anything
