I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that it's steel now... because my bugeye hood used to dent REALLY REALLY easily... the whole leading edge had tiny dents from stones, etc... hell, I think even bugs dented it.

That grille fill in on the scoop is HORRIBLE for the seibon hood.
Gonna wait for their varis copy. and pull all that grille **** out.

Sadly, it is definitely steel. Initially, based on the marketing/press release when the car was revealed, it had "Aluminum hood" listed as a feature. Even the Subaru Canada website listed the hood as aluminum. I contacted Subaru Canada and they confirmed that the hood is indeed steel. Ah well, at least the aftermarket hood vendors can make money now. The old aluminum hood used to weigh less than some of the carbonfibre hoods.

JDM Spec C has aluminum hood, roof panel, and hatch, so JDM importing will happen again.

Spec C is what the car should ve had originally if material costs didnt go up as much, time for Japanparts to import them in good numbers

I just did the magnet test on my STI with a simple refrigerator magnet -- 'sticks' to both the hood and tailgate. Bummer.
