Actually, the stockers are ceramic. We don't think they are the same compound as the earlier cars based upon the wear we've seen, but they are ceramic.

Just like the old abestos or organic pads you can get different compounds. Those compounds affect the braking based upon initial bite, linearity, heat, wear, dust and noise.

When it comes to pads you have to determine what is important to you, and get a pad for that with the understanding that there will be sacrifices in the other categories.

as TIC said, we need to know what your requirements are. Are you looking for a certain level of performance? How much city/hwy/track driving do you do? If you're not very aggressive and just are really worried about dust, there are a variety of pads available. Likewise, there are super-high performance pads like the new Ferodo DS1.11 and DS2.11 pads that are part of a next generation of ceramic pads for track use.

It's give and take depending on the pad requirements. Like what turningconcepts said it's about all those(plus price- a very important factor) and what you're willing to give up to get more elsewhere. It's like having 10 chips and having to put in those categories where 5 chips are the best that part can get. The more money you're willing to spend, the more chips you get to put down. This is the basic idea with alot of mods but even more so when it comes down to brake pads.

Either way since we're on the topic of brakes- you may also want to put a little extra down for SS brake lines and super blue brake fluid. If not the SS lines- still definitely do the upgraded brake fluid as harder braking= more heat which means more punishment on the rest of the system, i.e the fluid(not much $$ to do at all).
