Default 2008 STI Break-in + AccessPort Stg. 1

Hi, Getting my 08' STI in 2 weeks times, after reading up on the factory stock ECU maps, I was wondering if it's a good idea to start out right away to flash with AP stage 1 and break in the car from day 1... Also any specific tips on breaking in the STI like any DCCD settings, VDC or SI-Drive settings? I heard vacuum runs are best for the first 30-50km to set the rings good or does it matter? thanks

You'll get varying responses on this. Personally, I think flashing the ap stage 1 right up front would be a wise decision as that's just like fine tuning a crappy stock tune. After that dccd and vdc settings for breakin will not matter. SI drive might matter a minimal amount but if you are flashing stage 1 then???

IMO flash stage 1 right up front, run only quality gas, drive easy for a 1,000 miles, change out the oil and then start having some fun

This just got posted too. When you get the AP, check it for the latest firmware. If it doesn't have it, then download it before you flash stage 1.

I hope to have an AP in a few weeks, and I don't think my '08 STI will be broken in by then. I plan to flash Stage 1 and continue the break in process.

Thanks for quick response, this board is awesome, so quick and informative, yeah I'm ordering one this week the AP and hopefully it comes soon so I can have it before my car delivery!

BTW, those real time info like boost or whatever it can display is only on the AP or you can output on laptop to datalog or something? JW

Hmm does stage one affect SI-Drive? Or does it modify to something? Honestly I think SI-Drive is overboard on settings, I wouldn't really move it from S#... unless i'm saving gas but why would I care about that when I got the STI.. lol get a Prius or something

As for break in, I put mine on about at about 200 miles, however I followed the owners manual and did a proper break in (1000 miles under 4kRPM, no full throttle). Knock on wood, doing well so far.

As for the SI drive being effected, the simple answer is yes. Its been mentioned a few times that only throttle position is effected by the different modes, however I-mode seems to be running off of the wastegate spring pressure and wont go above ~9psi. As for that being a change from the COBB map or an already programmed feature, your guess is as good as mine.

You can still break-in the car the SAME way your would normally... regardless of the mapping.

You can flash to stage 1, and still take it easy on the car. I say, do it. Can't be any worse than the HORRIBLE stock tune.
