IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | ... Now that I put mine on, I have an issue. The issue is with the front UR Flaps. When mounted, the #1 Screw's Head causes the fender piece with the STi stripe to bulge a little, therefore making the lines not line up on the sideskirt/fender piece. I'm talking about the screw that holds the bracket... Is it just me or is this an issue with the hardware provided? I really will be irked if the lines on my 08 are already off because of the #1 Screw for the bracket... Please let me know if anyone else has this issue and what they did to fix it. Once I get some pics taken, I'll post them up for you guys to see what I mean. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Check out the lines on the Fender near the Side Skirt: ![]() ![]() I think if the screw gets sanded or grinded down it will help. Last edited by wrxtunerd; 06-29-2008 at 10:04 PM. |

| Authorized Manufacturer | Hi Tunerd, We would advise checking the foam gaskets behind your fender cover as well as the confirming the clip attachments for the cover are fully seated. Properly installed setup on a vehicle shown: ![]() From our findings, we have seen that there is a great variation and a certain amount of "play" in this area due to the OEM clip/gasket setups by default on the 08 body. Subaru includes small foam gaskets around the body clips of this portion to cushion the fender piece as it is installed on the vehicle: ![]() Examples of range of free play in this area on two different stock vehicles: ![]() You can also see the body line here: ![]() *Edit: Here is a picture of of your exact setup from our file (white 08STI/Red UR) which may assist and clarify the correct positioning for you: ![]() Figure "A" is your vehicle from your picture above. Figure "B" is the same vehicle with the fender cover installed correctly-all hardware tightened/aligned, and the fender cover fully clipped into cover in the order specified on our instructions. In our instructions we mention replacing the cover first before the side skirt is re-installed in order to allow you to push all the fender cover clips (including the last one on the bottom) fully against the vehicle. (The bottom clip on the cover is not easily accessible if the side skirt is installed) Thanks much Team R/A Last edited by Rallyarmor; 06-30-2008 at 06:44 PM. Reason: Added additional images |

| Authorized Manufacturer | We would like to stress that this modification is not required, and advise against any modifications during the installation. There is a very close tolerance within this area, but reinstallation of the stock components is key. The bracketry hardware must be tightened down to allow the cover to slide over. If a user experiences any interference, it is always best to recheck their hardware before continuing to the next step. We will be releasing the installation video in the next few weeks which should help in clarifying this portion of the installation. We encourage users to always reach out to us if there are any questions or technical assistance needed during their installation. Thanks much Team R/A |

| Professional STI Driver | ?? Why aren't these flaps just molded..? Seem like that would eliminate any problems where there shouldn't be. I mean, we're installing mud flaps, not a body panel! |

Do you know what tooling costs for molding something like this? Our company made a small device out of glass filled polyethylene, about as big as a PCIMCIA card, and just that little piece of plastic took a mold that cost us over 28K. That was just a mold for a pretty uncomplicated plastic device, excluding the cost of the man hours that went into solid modeling and CAM. You're right, we're just installing mud flaps, it shouldn't be rocket science. RA has already shown that they can be installed for a flush look. I will bet even if they aren't fully flush to the wheel well, at speed, they work EXACTLY as intended. The minutia you people obsess over is just mind boggling to me, I really can't relate. I guess that's why I never built a show car. I just got done reading about how upset people are getting at Harman because their exhaust isn't coming out of all 4 tailpipes at precisely the same rate. Wow, just wow. | |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | The problem is, following the instructions to the T doesn't produce a flushed look. They should make some modifications to their installation instructions to deal with this issue. By the time RA responded to this thread (which I congratulate them on), I had already removed all the flaps and decided not to use them. *shrugs* There are some things where attention to detail is important. I believe a BRAND new car is one of them. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
