Default System install and gauge placement peek

Just drove home from shop, got a basic system with the Alpine iDA-X100, Focals, JL 10" (box for now figuring out if I want the weight of a custom fiber install where the tire used to be), Punch amps.

Smoothed out faceplate, and planning to place (3) 52mm gauges directly above the bottom head unit, plenty of space there and behind the faceplate. One pic with the flash, another with the red LED map lights on. Will update more pics with gauges after the larger performance install at Harman July 4th weekend in a new journal -

What did they do to smooth out the faceplate? it looks pretty good. Is it cheaper than the JDM DIN panel from Japanparts?

I think it was like some kinda plastic filler, sanded, then texturized, then painted. I gotta look at the invoice I don't know if they itemized that portion of the work - but I also ordered the face plate from JapanParts.com so I will either use it if something goes wrong when the gauges go in or sell it (prolly selling it when I get it) -

There's nothing basic about that system. Sounds like you've got a great setup for sound quality there (minus the punch amps of course.) Congratulations.

I'd like to know how they texturized the plastic. I wonder if they spray something over it? Let me know if you find out, plz....

Yep when I go back there I'll see what I can find out and will take a better picture in the light so you can the actual texture. At first I didn't like it but it's growing on me. I was considering smooth and shiny as an option too...but I want to wait till the gauges are in.

The Punch amps are actually better than I thought they would be. Was close to getting McIntosh everything but rather spend the money on engine/suspension

Here it is so far in daylight, you can kind of see the texture. Oh, and I guess I been a little right pedal happy lately lol.

That looks great IMO, I actually like it more than I thought I would when envisioning a single DIN in that location. Don't worry, whenever I fill up on Saturday my MPG looks like that until I go to work on Monday. God bless stoplights!

I may be the only one but I have always felt that the Imports lifeless or soulless. It just looks so plain.
