Question 2 Sub's in 08 STI

I was wondering if you can just splice together the wires of 2 OEM subs before going to the head unit ? Is it possible & did anyone tried it before (even on older OEM models)?

your impedance will drop if you do.

Tried it on my '05, it works, but it doesn't really make much difference vs having just one.

Do the subs have their own power amps? If so, the impedance will remain the same, as there isn't any additional load on the power amps.

That's what I believe in, and yes they are self-powered subs.

My only concern would be are the amps receiving enough juice from the battery.

EDIT: What I meant to say is whether the subs are getting enough juice. I don't know how it's wired but using the stock wires, like it has been stated below is probably going to be the bottleneck in terms of getting enough power to the amps. I echo the other posts in suggesting an aftermarket solution since you will get WAY more for your money.

Really...That sucks I thought it would sound a bit better. I would be happy to have a 30% to 40% improvement from one to two subs.

On what percentage would you rate the improvement from 1 to 2 subs.

go aftermarket and get some real subs, the stock OEM sucks, and with two subs it'll suck twice as much. how about an infinity basslink? easy to remove when needed and much better than OEM.

Oh, by the way would it be concern to have a 1 more sub total of pulling more power from the OEM radio harness ?

As I understand it (and someone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong), the power for the subs aren't coming from the OEM radio harness, but from a power wire that is separate from the radio system. So whether or not that power wire can handle two subs depends on the gauge (thickness) of the wire. The only thing you're getting from the OEM radio harness is the signal, which can spread as many times as you want.

Again, run a separate power wire and go aftermarket.

Thanks for the advise, with 2 kids & wifey and weedend travel every other week. A real sub-woofer system won't work for me. That's why I'm trying to make the best out of the OEM's.

definitley check out the basslink!!! very small, powerfull with the option of sliding in a 4 channel amp into the unit to power the rest of the speakers in the car. Its a all in one, light weight unit! I don't know why they are not more popular.

All I am going to say is do not under any reason go with a "CAP". Just please trust a random guy like me when I say NOTHING good comes from them, there are alternative methods.
