Default Stage 2 owners - 02 Sensor extenders in aftermarket downpipe?

Are the standoffs/sparkplug extenders still required in the 08's oxygen sensor? I have an Invidia catted dp, AP Stg2 OTS maps, and I used the same extenders I used in my previous STI's downpipe. They're about an inch each, stacked together.

But I'm getting a CEL which is basically saying it's in a lean condition. I'm wondering if the sensor is too far out of the stream or if maybe it's no longer necessary. Thanks!

Aren't the extenders to prevent the cat readiness code? AP wrote the readiness defeat in the tune. Your likely getting a lean code from a poor sample.

Ours is catless and we are not using the mechanical CEL fix. No lights yet. I know this was an issue on the older ones with the OTS tune even when they had coded that one out it was still an occasional issue. Seems they have fixed it right this time.

I'm using the Cobb catted DP as sold (along with Cobb's OTS Stg 2 Cali 91 map) with no issues.

Thanks everyone! I'm betting the extenders are causing my CEL. The error, don't have it verbatim, basically indicates the rear 02 sensor is detecting a lean condition post-cat.

Actually as I'm talking about it my 05 STI's downpipe was a TurboXS catless and I seem to remember that's why I needed the extenders in the first place. Since this pipe has a cat I bet it's doing its job removing some of the fuel content in the exhaust, and with the 02 sensor so far out of the stream it's thinking I'm really lean. Probably would have never thought of that had I not posted this. I'll report back after I take the extenders out this weekend.

I was attributing the CEL mostly to the exhaust leak but I mean it'll just happen when I'm coasting. Last time it happened I was in [i] so I definitely wasn't "on it." Thanks again!

You don't need any other fix besides a Stage 2 tune. You probably have some other issue if you are getting that CEL.

You need to check to make sure your O2 has not made contact with the driveshaft or the heat shield. Like i did if you do its a 159.00 mistake. i know of 2 other people who have done the same thing now.

I put an extra ziptie around the O2 wire so it wouldn't creep up to the driveshaft or heatshield.

Or if someone send you the wrong Dp section you have to cut the shield. Grrrr.
