IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I have 3 track events with this car so 9 days in total. I have on order the Cobb anti-sway bars with kartboy end links. I am now looking at 2 kits and would like to here from people that have them or had them. Please try to remeber that I am asking this question becouse I want to carry as much speed out of a coner as I can not becouse it looks cool. I am looking at 2 kits 1st Cusco Zero-2E Coilovers 2nd Tein MONO FLEX Both have the Electronic Damper adjustment I leave in MI where roads Suck ass so I will need the Softer setting, Also when the track gets wet you want a softer setting. Ok lets get to the hart the question. when comes to price both are about the same. Is the Electronic adjustment just Hype or something real? is it just another electronic toy that I should walk away from, And just buy a good set of Coilovers and if so what brand. | STI Driver | I had the RCE Tarmac 2s on my last car (05 WRX wagon w/ 06 STi swap), and they are a very good compromise for daily driving and track. I had KW V3s on my car before that, which are very nice for track, but are pretty rough on crappy roads. BTW, RCE Tarmac 2s are manufactured by KW and are, AFAIK, KW V3s with different valving. Those coilovers are last time I checked around $2k. Then there are RS&SP coilovers in the mid $6k, which are reputably brutally tough and simply fantastic. Rally Sport Direct and Racecomp Engineering are very familiar with RS&SP. I don't know if RS&SP has made a rear setup for the '08s yet, though. Finally there are Öhlins and Moton, which I understand are not as good a value as the other ones I've mentioned, however their top end stuff is in a class of it's own, and priced to match: $10k+. There are also more expensive KW coilovers and AST coilovers ($4k or thereabouts), but I really don't know anything about them. As far as electronic damping control, IMHO they're generally pretty gimmicky. The only type I think deserve a place in the market is the ferrofluid based "magneto rheological" dampers, where the fluid instantly changes viscosity by varying the power of an nearby electromagnet. That's instead of varying the size of a mechanically adjustable valve with a motor, which the Teins and Cuscos do. The ferrofluid based dampers are used on some Corvettes, Ferarris, Audis, and a bunch of other vehicles nowadays. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | I would suggest waiting until some of the more competition oriented units as mentioned above are available. The two you mentioned are more suited to a car show than track day IMHO... If you have to have something now I think the KW V3s are avail in '08 fitment already... |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (7) | Zero2-E is a street coilover. Going from the KW's to the Zero2-E's. The E's are a better street coilover. As they are easier to adjust, no need to buy seperate top hats. And make less noise. As for ride quality, the KW's had a more aggressive valving, so they where a bit more bouncy on the street. However both are great coilovers. Just wanted to put out there, that the Zero2-E is a STREET coilover. Even the GF noticed on how much softer the Cusco's rode. As she was putting on her make up, something that couldnt be down with the KW's. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I am going with the Race Comp's Kw Clubsports for the 2008 STI. KW Makes this setup for Miles only when I lived in Maryland, Race Comp was the best shop around. So Do you think I could get anything for my 2008 Suspension, I am going to post this on the discussion I hope I am not braking any rules. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | You'd have to sell it to someone who autocross who is looking to cut it up and stick Konis in it. That's probably the only market around for takeoff 08 STI suspension. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | No. Stock class Auto-X rules applied. Stock Shocks and spring perches. Lots of hand work, lathe work, gutting mainly the fronts though. I have 8611 DA Inserts up front and 30 Series mono tube DA's in the rear. I'll post up real soon about them with pics and all.... |

| Amateur STI Driver | i previously had Tein type FLEX in my 03 sti, and loved it, set up right and it was a huge diffrence! on track it handeled like a dream, i upgraded to the Tein after having a brand named Ksport in my car, and the diffrence was a joke, Ksport if use can get them dont, dont bother, absolute crap. im going to be ordering my set of Tein MONO flex for my 08 STI, and i can guarantee i will be 100% satisfied with my purchase! |

before you order the monoflex, i'd find out what the spring rates are, because they are no longer making the flex's like before. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | yup, looked it up. they are 10kg/8kg for the 08. I'd stay away from them. SUBARUIMPREZA GRB08+MFP STINow In Development 10/559 SW100-01175 8/448 SB080-01200 P/U-35 -1.4-30 -1.2-20 -0.8~ -61 -2.48 0.3~-55 -2.2EDK05-12120 it's a shame, because they were the best coilovers i've ever tried. handled great and were supple as silk. stupid kid's complained they weren't stiff enough, so they made them in 10kg. I rode in a car with the new flex's, I swear I got a headache within 2 minutes... the car was bouncing and teeter tottering like a civic with a $19.95 ebay coilover kit.
