Default Rota compatability with stock TPMS sensors?

Like the title says I'm trying to get some new Rota 18x8.5 (dont remember model name off the top of my head) and swap the tires however I'm hesitant seeing as I'm not sure the TPMS sensors will swap over.

Does anyone have experience trying to get the sensors in the Rota wheels?

Thanks for the help,
Chris

I swap wheels between summer and winter seasons. I opted to leave the sensors out of the winter wheels as it's not THAT annoying to have the indicator on when they're missing. You get used to it.

Did you put them into Rotas?

I plan on keeping my stock 5 spoke wheels and using them for rough season wheels and keeping my stock dunlops as yearly tires on the Rotas.

Anyone actually know if it will work?

So are you planning on swapping them back and forth? I'd suggest just buying a new set of sensors for the rotas (~$180) and save the trouble.

I just live with the light. It's not that annoying at all. I don't even see it now.

From what I understand, the ECU can only store 4 sensors, so extra sensors require me to go to the dealer every time I switch wheels.

My winter wheel/tires wont be on long so I can live with the light for a couple months, but for the rest of the year its the Rotas with the sensors (hopefully). That is, if they fit

I had the dealer install the sensors into my Rotas, I can confirm that they work for me. I have 18x8 et 35 Gunmetal Rota Torques w the original tires on them and the set up works just fine. They did have to "synch" the TPMS sensors to the car which they did when I had it in for an oil change. Actually I will probably be selling this set up in a few days...

Whats wrong with them? Vibration? Did you get them road force balanced?

There is no problem with the set -up, I just want a 5 spoke wheel so I ordered up some Kosei K3's that I am going to paint OBP to match the car. As far as the balancing, the dealership did it for me so I'm not sure what system they used. It rides perfectly smooth.

Gotcha. Thats good news.

I've got a 5 spoke design in mind, royal bronze finish which should be nice in contrast to my DGM.

It's a total friggin scam, this TPMS racket they are foisting on us. My dealer wants $30 every time I need to re-synch the receiver. I hate having that little orange buttcrack lit up on my dash and would rather have a fully functional system. I have 2 full sets of wheels including a full sized spare. It's bs that the system cant just store a bunch of sensors, they must have went with the bargain basement system... no surprise really. Luckily my dealership's tire guy owes me a favor and hooks me up for free on the re-synch. Making us pay for having a functional system is a total scam. This stuff should be covered under warranty or something. I feel bad for guys that track their car and like to have lots of wheel sets.

Ha, ...butt crack.

I think that the Legacy guys take apart the dash and put some electrical tape on the back to cover up the light opening.

I'm with you however on not wanting to have to resync every time I switch out. I can live with it for a couple months.

Ha...buttcrack

I didn't coin the phrase, my 11 year old niece asked why there was an orange butt on my instrument panel.

The 08 TPMS sensors do work with Rota wheels. We have installed a good amount of 2008 TPMS sensors on various wheels and haven't ran in to any problems. The only thing we change is the valvestem, we always upgrade to a TPMS valvestem and get rid of the rubber valvestem that comes with the sensors.

The only downside to new sensors (especially if you are getting the wheels as a winter set) is that you have to have the dealer re-program the car every time you change wheels
