You're going to get as many answers as there are different brands/types of DPs. Let me start off by declaring the Cobb catted DP the best (i.e. the one I went with).

The one that seems to make the most power has been the Turbo XS 4" DP.

Well if we're talking about objective numbers, would we have to have all the DP's tested on similar cars on the same dyno under the same conditions? Unless I've missed this, I'm not sure if there has been a definitive side-by-side comparison. And another thing I was concerned with when I was looking for a DP was long term engine safety and I figured what better source than the folks who have devised maps for our cars, namely Cobb.

I just ordered the 2 piece Perrin one. My only reasoning was the Perrin tune on it was showing very similar results while still passing emissions. It will show up next week and I will take some close up photos as my biggest concern about the divorced setup was the how it would hold up long term considering their short 1 year warranty.

I also figured that if I ever wanted to eliminate the 1st cat I might be able to replace that part with the Maddad front DP part. Might be out by then.

I came very close to getting the Turbo X. I called them up and they were very helpful and very nice! And yes, It looks like the strongest tunes out there are using their DP's. They also have a 5 year warranty!

In the beginning I would have just got the Cobb had they been in stock, but the TurboX gives you the option to go catless If you want.

The more I think about the 4" taper design the more it makes sense even though some will argue that it taper down to 3". If you think about it though, the gasses are hotter right out of the turbo and cool as they move down the pipe. Form the turbo to the cat they could drop from 100-200C. The hotter gas has more room @4" to get out fast enough and take advantage of some big torque. By the time the gases are cooled and have contracted they are not being restricted tapering down to 3".

best in terms of what? performance or quality? JDM DP are like somewhere around 2000 for a catted downpie. I'm still saving and looking for all the new pipes coming out.

does having a catted dp make the car considerably quiet vs a non catted one?

Thinking about getting the cobb, but the invidia catless is so much cheaper...

I am inbetween the 4" turboxs and the 5" Element tuning one. The element tuning dp does not have 08 fitment, but it is easy to fab up something to make up a 2" gap.
