I dunno. I still say if you're going to change every 3K, which I happen to think is the way to go, why not just use the recommended dino oil & be done with it? I can't see how synthetic is going to help in our situation since the major (only?) selling point of synthetic is that you can go longer between oil changes.

after 3k i plan to use the 5w30 fully synthetic castrol
but for the oil filter not sure, im thinking of using the fram oil filter and or subaru brand. let me know any input, thanks

From WolfPlayer's comparisons of filters:

OEM vs Fram EQ and Fram TQ:





OEM is on the left, Fram on the right. That OEM one looks a heck of a lot better than the Fram ones to me, and the OEM one is about the same price as the Fram.

wow, thanks for the pic, so can i buy oem anywhere or just dealership?
also about the oil, i can use castrol synthetic, right..
Are there any other oil filter brands? thanks again
