I'll take pics tonight. But yes, the false floor always stays in, otherwise what is the point? I wanted bass that you couldn't see and that would take up as little space as possible.

Because the speaker grill sits above the normal level of the false floor you have to make wedges that tilt the floor up in the back. I'm still working on that part - I currently have cut a couple out of foam as a temporary measure, but it's craft-type open cell styrofoam that is kind of crumbly and is making a mess back there. I haven't decided what I will ultimately use, possibly a much stronger foam or the really heavy-duty 1" thick cardboard. Most likely the foam because I have a hot-wire cutter that I could use to make the wedges.

Pics as requested. First is the fiberglassing process; since you can't see the bottom of the enclosure I didn't go through the effort of making it smooth. I just lined the spare with aluminum foil, sprayed a mold release on it and started laying in resin soaked strips of fiberglass mat.

Next, since you are using up the space that used to hold the jack, you have to modify the passenger side foam piece to hold the jack...

Enclosure with new 12" Kenwood in place and a couple of the wedges that have to be made to hold up the now-tilted false floor.

What it looks like with the floor in place.

Great info! I'm thinking of getting out of my 07 with a 12" JL in a box and moving to a 08 but didn't want the box in view.
