Default 2008 STi DRL disable???

After a long decision making process I pick up my 2008 Spark Silver/BBS STi tomorrow (Thursday)!!!

I was wondering if anyone has had any success in disabling their DRL's on an '08 STi??? I searched but couldn't really find what I was looking for as far as what to unplug or take apart.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I've learned a lot already by doing some lurking. Thanks!

Should be easy enough, but seriously, I don't get why people do this...

Just did mine (S'poreSTI Redux - 08 WRB/Gold. JDM Gauges installed.)
Really simple, just take off the bumper and disconnect the cable from the resistor, the big silver thing in the pic below, then fasten the cable out of the way so it doesnt rattle around. done

Well, I should of asked this too; do the tail lights come on with the DRL's??? I have seen some cars driving around at night with DRL's activated but no tail-lights. I am the type of jackass that doesn't remember to turn on the headlamps when it gets dark so the tail lamps are illuminated and not just the DRL's. Also I don't mind prolonging the life of the expensive HID bulb not having them on when they don't need to be.

Just the fronts, and its not the HID's, on the 08's the high beams are used, but at lower output when in DRL mode
Wait till you get the car, then decide if you like it or not. easy thing to change

The HID's don't run for the DRLs. First clue that the lights aren't on is no instrument lights. Since I think that is a bigger clue than the impotent DRLs, you have to ask how many of those cars you see at night with DRLs only would have no lights on at all if they were disabled.

you dont need to take the front bumper off to do this.

just pull back the fender liner and unplug it.....takes like 5 minutes instead of a hour.

After closer inspection I think I'm going to leave it the way it is, being that the DRL's are in the high beam and not turning the HID's on un-necessarily. I thought it was tied into the HID's. I can live with it.

Thanks for your help again!!!

...and this car is amazing. I cant wait until break in period is over.

You can do it by just removing the 3 pop clips on the pass side fender and reaching in, you don't have to remove the whole bumper though it's probably easier to get to if you do.
