I'm of the (RTFM) camp so I did as instructed. Better safe than sorry and all that good stuff. All that said, I've confirmed that I'm getting pro-tuned full TBE level performance with an OTS Stage 2 and Cobb catted DP.

I noticed you conveniently ignored my latest post which is not more repetition. Put away the measuring tape and start reading the damn thread before you respond. BTW you have yet to come up with a decent response to my "repetition." I may be using similar points over and over again, but at least I am making points. You haven't made one.

can we get back on topic? and answer the original question, instead of this pissing contest about who's right or who's wrong?

there are threads dedicated to discussing break in methods, or take it to PM's if you want to keep fighting. or even take it to nasioc

so... who else did a hard break-in?

Just over 900 miles. Stayed under 4k for the first 500 miles and 5k for the rest. Waiting for the first oil change before I really get on it. Easy break in for me.

For all the HATERs,

Sorry, but if you want a reliable car, buy a HONDA.

I bought an STi for sheer fun.

I ran it pretty hard on mine. but only after the engine and the transmission was warmed up. i put a filter mag out the dealer, took it to the highway redlined to 5th gear, changed oil on 250,500,750,1000. no metallic powders in the oil. runs realll good now.

Yeah idk what his point is with that post. Hondas and Subarus are both pretty reliable most of the time. I have no idea what that has to do with a hard break in though.

Thats a lot of oil changes I did my first at ~1750, it was meant to be at 1k but i got busy that fortnight. Definitely no hard break-in for me, i was nice to it for ~200miles, not over 4k rpm. After that just drove it normally, plenty of varying speeds, a modest amount of acceleration up to ~6k rpm, and always letting it warm up fully before getting on it. so far so good.

Right now im still breaking it in at 385miles or so. And i started off from about 250 miles shifting at 4 K and lately ive being changing at 4500 and sometimes 5,000 every now and then, but i give it a break like once in a blue moon. I havent hit 5500 yet, Just slowly but surley working it in till i hit that 1000k on the odometer then have some fun!!!

I drove mine easy for about 800 miles then I couldn't resist getting on it. Then when I got 1,000 miles it was on like donkey kong.

subaru is just as or more reliable than hondas. the new hondas with the ivtec needs a hard break in so the computer learns how your drive. if you drive like a bit*h you have a slow honda. if you get on it all day you have a faster honda than your grandmas. and you still can have fun with hondas depending on the models.
