IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Don't return it...just get a tune made for your car. It really is a simple solution. The beauty of the AP is that it allows you to change maps easily without sending your ECU out to get reflashed. I've had several "tuner" cars and this is a HUGE pain in the A$$...so just be happy you have the option of not removing and mailing your ECU. Just get to a tuner in your area and say "Heys...I wants a tune for MY car!" |

They work well for some, not for others. A pro-tuned map assures it's the right/safe map for YOUR car. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | OK...my turn. I was running through the gears HARD up a steep hill (about 8% grade) literally at sea level (just turned North on PCH from CA 84 right at the ocean) on a typically cool evening on the coast (about 60F but not foggy yet). Near the top of 3rd gear (maybe 6K RPM) I threw this code. I had been aware of this issue and avoided long pulls in upper gears but never considered trouble at anything resembling legal speeds on the tight curvy roads I drive most frequently. The steep uphill grade, of course, increases load just like being in a higher gear. After I stopped crapping my pants, I took it easy on the way home (didn't have the AP with me) but I was pretty sure it would be the dreaded 244. I am running the Cobb V1.01 ACN 91 Stage 1 map with no other mods: been on this map for over 1000 of the 3900 miles on the car. Came home and checked/cleared the code but now, of course, I'm really worried about possible damage done: fingers crossed. All of this makes me thankful that I'm going in for a protune at GST on Monday (along with Cobb DP, sways, KB shifter/bushings, steering rack bushings and alignment)... and makes me wish I'd decided to take the short way home until after Monday This ad is not endorsed by this member.
