IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | I have searched the forums for some how tos but I just saw stuff for older sti's and I was wondering if anyone could give any further suggestions for an 08 install. I had planned on tapping the radio wires for power, ground, lamp and ignition on. Is that the right idea? Does anyone have a more clear picture of the connections to the T adapter. I am pretty sure how it needs to be hooked up but I want to be sure. I was using the thread for help DEFI BF install -Step by step with pics - 24 May - INSTALL COMPLETE Thanks for your help. | Amateur STI Driver | Hey, You found an excellent thread for the install. And you have the right idea about wiring. I used the clock wiring harness points but radio harness should be easy to use as well. The tee is very simple, you should see the right way to install it once you're looking at the hoses. If you're not sure, just take a picture and post it here for review. As for passing the wires through the firewall, there's a large hole and rubber grommet on the passenger side near the downpipe that works well. |

| Senior STI Driver | The t-fitting connection is the same location as the older models. The vacuum line will have to be a little longer since you will be using the passenger side to route it. I used the radio harness to tap the power. Depending on the type of gauge, you can either connect it to the 12Vignition(blue/red) or the illumination(purple) wire. Ground can be connected to the single wire that's connected to the radio chassis. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | It seems like most people use the clock for the power and since he has labeled them in the above how-to I guess i will do the same. Does the clock pull out like in the previous years or can I reach it by pulling out the head unit? |

| Amateur STI Driver | You can reach the clock by pulling out the head unit. You have to reach up and free it from the tabs which are holding it in on the left and right. It then drops down and you can pull the harness from the back of it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | lol, sorry another question. Do you guys know what size the hose is? The hose that came with the defi gauge is pretty small and just looking at the stock hose it looks bigger. Do I need to get a T with one end alittle smaller so that can run to the sending unit and the other 2 ends are larger to fit the stock hose? Thanks |

| Amateur STI Driver | Why don't you simply do a test fit of the hose you have to the tee, and pull the hose off the BOV to test fit (you don't have to cut it yet); or take some pics of the hose and the tee that you have and post them here? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | Well, thanks for all the help the install went pretty easily. The hardest part was finding all the correct wires from the clock since there is alot more then the how-to i linked too. I had a multimeter so that made that go well. I'd used 1/4" I.D. hose which fit up to the stock plumbing just fine and for the defi sending unit that is probably 5/16" I.D. I just wrapped it with plumbers tape to fatten it up a bit. |
