Default TiC super shifter set installed

I just finished the TiC super shifter set yesterday. It includes the u-joint bushings and the front and rear Kartboy shifter stay bushings along with a Kartboy lever.

Install just plain sucked. Compared to a WRX this is a bear. Having done it once, I'm sure I could now do it in half the time but it still is a PITA. The roll pin involved the in the reverse lockout took me forever to line up...

Huge change in feel - there is ZERO slop now in the shifter. NVH is much higher in first and second, but pretty much negligible once you get to higher speed. I'm not really sure I'm sold on the shift lever - it is definitely shorter throws, but the overall length of the lever is much shorter as well. The factory lever was a nice height; you take your hand off the wheel and it was just right there. Now you have to reach down into the bag. I'm also running a WC lathe works copolymer knob, so that makes the lever effectively shorter by over 1/2". I'm going to try switching back to the stock knob and see if I like that better.

Overall it's a big thumbs up to the bushing set, but if I had to do over again I would get a lever that is adjustable for height and throw.

I agree, although I bought the cobb shifter, I set it kinda low and was like "this is too short" for the first day. After giving it a little time, I'm really happy with the low height and going back to anything higher I'd fell like I'm driving a truck.

Also running the TiC super shifter set here but I was lazy to install the 4 shift linkage bushings as I could not punch out the pin. However several month later I did replace them and there is zero slop while in gear. One of the best driveline mods.

You'll like it once everything is "broken in" a bit and it will feel smoother as the bushings molds into their void.

After driving for a few days I'm starting to get used to it, but I think what I need is the shift lever to have more of a bend to it. With my seat position comfortable for my legs I have to stretch a bit to get the lever into the 1,3 and especially 5 positions. I will probably just deal with it since I do not want to pull it out again

I just ordered the set for the stock shifter. Where did you get the directions for install?

Right on Turn In Concepts web page there are instructions.

From personal experience I would NOT try and remove the roll pin on the U joint under the car. I simply unbolted it; you need to pull on the tranny toward the driver side to get the bolt out, but it wasn't a big deal.

dont forget to zip tie the reverse lockout cable away from the driveshaft. You will get a crazy rattle if you dont.

I had my super shift set installed by Tony from TiC a few weeks ago. I knew that the install would of been a PITA, so i just paid him to do it. It took him about 2 hours to install the shift set, x-member bushing, and a new trans mount.

I am extremely happy w/the length, height, and the NVH. There is more NVH, but it makes it sound like a race car

Hmm, the set I ordered last night includes:
Kartboy 6MT front shifter stay bushing
Kartboy rear shifter stay bushing
TiC 06+ STi linkage bushings
TiC 5MT wide pivot bushings (these are what work with the new 6MT stock lever)

I can't figure out from the instructions on their site which of these parts are which since they are all kind of jumbled up. I'm the type that preps it out in my mind a hundred times and then goes in and does it as fast as I can. I'm just going to email them and ask exactly which directions I need.

Thanks,
Chris

The linkage bushings go under the car. The pivot bushings go in the car. That's the easiest way to break it down. There are 4 bushings for the linkage and 2 bushings and a sleeve for the pivot.
