IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I was out driving yesterday and was winding the car out. Around 6500 i noticed that i got some kind of power cut. I didn't know if this was because i was getting near the rev limiter or not. The shift light had just begun to blink so i am thinking that i just hit the limiter. If anyone knows the stock rev limit or has experience this...let me know This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | The stock tune on the 08 sucks a$$ (I'm assuming your car is stock). The power fluctuations are most noticable in higher gears (3rd gear and up). If you're thinking you're getting fuel cut or hitting the rev limiter, then that could be something totally different. The power fluctuations I'm talking about aren't quite that drastic. Your problem sounds like it is worthy of a visit to the dealership. |

Im used to higher revving engines and was doing it from time to time, esp in first and second when that needle swings suprisingly fast. after a few times i learned because the experience isnt exactly smooth. |

This is a design of the tune so your not getting boost creep and it's gear dependent and mode dependent. Feels like the car gets short of breath or something! Very different feeling than a fuel cut (right past the red RPM zone), which is like an instant 'off'. An accessport seems to smooth it out a bit and makes more power too. Also, my red light is a shift light set to 6k rpm not a limiter of any sort. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | that's why i set my shift light for 5.3k. it spools so quickly in the lower gears that it gives me time to, usually, avoid the rev limiter. plus, banging off the rev limiter serves no purpose when the power curve is dropping before then. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I thought the odo changed the rev to "on" or "off" and to the number you need. Just to clarify: The red light of death is the rev limiter, and the little green triangle is the shift light. |

the factory tune is really bad as other have pointed out. after the cobb stage 1 flash, the car feels much different, very smooth and no more of that stuttering and power cut.

The OP simply hit the rev limiter.

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | correct. shift light (and alarm): user adjustable via the trip meter button rev limiter: not meant to be adjusted by the user green triangle: non-adjustable recommended shift point for best mpg while in I mode I set me shift alarm (and light) to trigger at 5300 rpm since it's not long after that when the power band spikes and you're wasting time staying in that gear. Some few RPM later the rev limiter will kick in and cut power (you'll know if you ever hit it). It simply doesn't pay (performance or longevity wise) to go banging off the rev limiter all the time, since you're well past peak power before you get there and upshifting keeps you on the uphill side of the power curve. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | So you set it to "on" and around 5500? Is there a physical cut off involved with setting the shift light? I felt the auto power drain once when i hit it and not later when i turned it to "off". |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I must have the shift light set so high it worked together with the rev limiter. I am going to read the manual and figure it out. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
