IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I am just beginning to learn heel/toe and am having a hard time with my sti. I don't have huge feet, but I am barely hanging on the brake while blipping. Are the pedals spaced a little too far for some or do i just need to sack it up and learn it like this? Do people bend or adjust the pedals ever? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (2) | Practice. It took me a few weeks to do learn how to do it and now I do it without even thinking about it. The way I was able to replicate it the best was to have the LEFT side of my RIGHT foot on the brake and roll my RIGHT leg to the RIGHT onto the throttle. Practice in a parking lot, w/o obstructions so you don't end up in the woods trying it on the street. It'll take a little bit, but you'll get it! |

| Senior STI Driver | Same here. It is easy to do so with barefoot or racing shoes, but not the case with athletic shoes on. I also found to use the left side of the right foot and throttle on the right side to help. Won't be able to do it like those BM vids for a while. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | The '08 STI's have different pedal spacing than 04-07 STI's. The difference is not favorable for heel toe shifting. I've gotten used to it, but it's quite awkward compared to my '07. The accelerator is mounted lower, and the brake pedal is higher, so it's a more awkward twist of your foot to get it right. BTW, it's more heel/side-of-foot than heel/toe. And don't bend your pedals lol. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | For me - it's left side of ball of foot on the right side of the brake pedal; right side of heel over the lower portion of the accelerator (picture the foot held at about a 45 degree angle). When the brake pedal is partially depressed under braking, it becomes easier to also blip the accelerator with the heel/right side of the foot. Gary |

| Senior STI Driver | Another difference with the JDM one? No one in Japan is complaining about it, and the BM vid's Hattori does it effortlessly. |

| Senior STI Driver | I'm sure they're the same. I don't have any trouble in my '08, and haven't ever had any trouble in any of my cars, actually. It's all in your technique, just keep working on it and you'll get it figured out. |

| Junior STI Driver | Every one is different...different size shoes....different size feet. You just need to find your own way. Assuming you understand the concept it will fall into place. Like someone said, practice in a parking lot, or even standing still in your driveway, or downshift through the gears when coasting up to lights. The new pedals are a little far apart in terms of hieght, which for normal daily driving makes heel and toeing somewhat more of an effort, however with maximum braking you will find that they are actually in a great position. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I found it harder to heel and toe in my '08 than my '05 (which was a breeze). The problem seems to come from the throttle pedal being closer to the tranny tunnel (or the tranny tunnel is fatter). I've since adjusted by putting the ball of my foot up higher on the brake and rolling onto the throttle with the side of my foot. In my '05 I could position my foot a bit lower (and therefore more naturally) and blip more with the side of my heel. Now that I'm used to it though, I don't have any problems other than the clutch being ridiculously soft. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | It feels way more possible with driving shoes for me. Cant even come close to making it work with running shoes. I cant wait to get it down. |
