| Amateur STI Driver Car: silver 08 WRX STi Fav Mod: Coming Soon Posts: 16
IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I am looking to install/purchase a short ram air intake (this will be my first mod). I remember reading a thread that said that changeing the factory air box and/or factory filter would cause the engine to run lean and could lead to burnt pistons and other engine damage and poor performance. Could someone explain if this is a mod that I should consider? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Amateur STI Driver | All I can say is that my only engine mod is an SPT short ram and it does not run lean but it doesn't really make a noticeable difference either. It has a different sound but thats about it. I thought since it was installed by the dealer that it would be a safe mod, and I have not regretted doing it. Good luck. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | As crazy as this sounds I would get an intake that makes the least difference to the power. Intakes on STi's sound awesome but if the make a difference in power, it's probably because they are leaning out the mixture which is why you should have your car tuned for an intake. |
