NOOOOO The Hill assist only used the applied brake pressure and the brake sensor switch. No clutch sensors are employed. Again, I posted the diagram....... 1 second after the brake sensor switch is triggered then the system releases the current applied brake pressure.... This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Of note, but it won't help us with our 08's, the hill holder clutch in the Forester worked off of the clutch position, and worked perfectly IMHO, no jerking EVAR. Well maybe once or twice while gliding down a hill backwards I had to deal with it. It only engaged on uphill situtations. When I orignally read that the 08 STI had this similar feature I was stoked, then I read the specification and tried it out and think there is no comparison to the Forester style...... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | The other document jrdriller sent is a basic overview of how the system works. That document is about 24 pages long, so i wont post it. I am going to review how the system works and see if there is a way to disable the hill assist. Let me know if you guys come up with anything in the meantime. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | OK so i just got home and did some HSA testing in my driveway which has got a decent incline as mentioned before, Hand brake disables (pull it up until the light comes on is all you need as someone else mentioned here) pulling fuse 8 (brake lights) disables, but also turns on the ABS/HSA warning light and of course turns off the brake lights so probably not a smart thing to do and none of the VDC modes disables as we already know cheers |

Is there a way you can post up that ref also. Seems to me you will just need to ground a pin to disable it. If someone has the whole 08 manual i will host the whole thing.
