| Junior STI Driver | Only if your on a hill. But let me tell you about how cool you look when the guy next to you revs his engine at you, and you rev back... and then you stall in a spectacular fasion when you drop the hammer and the breaks are still on... IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this vehicle. I am sure once you disable the sensor which senses you are on the incline, it will no longer kick in. I personally hate the hill assist. I like scaring people behind me when i am sloped. I had a lady confront me in my 07 and ask why i was putting my car in reverse. I laughed and asked if she knew how and manual transmission worked. Maybe this can be disabled from the ECU. The sensor must said some voltage to an intelligence source that holds locks the pads on the rotors. As soon as you engage the clutch, the brakes unlock. I havent stalled yet but i hate it. Lets work together to bypass this. |

| Lurker | i got the forester 09, non turbo version. and i've always wanted to learn a manual because I have always felt that I should know how in case of an emergency and for renting a car overseas when traveling. but no one would let me drive their cars (I now understand why, since i feel so bad for my car, even if I'm just leasing it). so how about some concrete advice on hill starts without roll back (as a beginner, i'm terrified of rolling back). seems ironic that the hill assist is supposed to help a newbie like me, but seems to be a detriment. |

| Amateur STI Driver | The hill holder is crap. I stalled today because of it and really I have yet to find out where the hill was... Maybe a 2% incline max... geez. Please, someone, find a way to disable it! |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Guys, I know it's a pain in the backside but really if you use the handbrake like you would have been taught if you learned to drive in a car with a manual transmission you will not have a problem. If you dont want to use the hand brake properly then do what I do which is pull up to the first notch/click when I'm on a hill and don't want the HSA to engage. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | It does. the problem with HSA is its functionality is integrated into the VDC module so disabling it is not straight forward. It gets its inclination signal from the VDC yaw rate sensor. One thing I've not tried yet is to see if it is still working when VDC is turned off (push and hold vdc button for about 10sec). I'll do this when I leave work today as we've got a decent climb out of the parking area |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Im thinking along the same line as digitalfiend. Its funny cause i read in the manual that the hill-assist should not engage when your on a decline. I have had it engage while parking on a decline numerous times. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | If I knew how to insert the HSA diagram into this msg box I would (old guy not very computer savy). The Service manual is not that clear v/v how HSA works but it does have a timing diagram which shows a 1sec timer begining from brake light off This ad is not endorsed by this member.
