Not for you. For 04's and 05's it supposedly completely opens the center diff. 06+ still will have some torque sent to the front due to a different diff design, but it will be as open as it can be.

It would be pretty cool if one of the AP map makers could figure this thing out...
Someone get Cobb on the phone now.

Yeah, sounds like something that should be able to be disabled by the COBB AP... hehehe

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got into an accident because of this @#$%ing hill stop crap!

I was leaving work, reversing out of a spot that I have used before and the hill start has never kicked in. My dog was in the back so my view was a little obstructed out the rear. I looked both ways. I then began to release the clutch and had my foot on the gas, sort of just holding NOT moving, while I did one last look over the shoulder. At the same instant that I saw the mercedes turn behind me, the freakin hill start lets the brakes go and my car jumps backwards 2 feet, straight into his bumper.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

As soon as I calm down I am writing a letter to SOA. This is crap.

As a side note - the back bumper held up very well to a minor (maybe 5mph) collision. Just one tiny scratch. Much better than his stupid POS overpriced bumper that is now hanging. Arg...

1. Let the clutch out a little until you start to feel it engage, give it a little throttle input and then continue to let the clutch out.

2. Rev the car to about 2K rpm and then just let the clutch out slowly.

I was taught to drive the first way, and if you do it that way with uphill start assist on you will stall it every time. You have to use the 2nd method with the start assist to prevent stalling.
I disagree... i always use the first method, and i dont have problems with the car stalling. i just let me foot off the brake about 3 seconds early so the hill assist disengages

Man, sorry to hear about that. It really is a dumb system.

3 Seconds is an eternity to wait at a light in So Cal. Do you live in a place where time moves much slower, like Kansas or Kentucky.

So we have a few tricks we could use until someone figures out how to remove the feature by modding the ECU:

1) Jam something under the lever just high enough to make the light come on.
2) short the switch on the lever so the light is always on
3) add a new switch you can manually engage to close the circuit when you want
I forgot the obvious method 0: Get in the habit of always using the e-brake on launch.

I was going to wire up a switch and tie it into the clutch (so it would only pretend the e-brake was up when I had the clutch in), but I'm lazy. And now I've gotten used to just lifting it a little every time I roll off a stop. Problem solved.

Too many hills in KY bubbba. This feature sucks. Three seconds is three seconds, some folks are just slower than others. Three dollar bills on the other hand, fall more often in your state.

I might be crazy, and I've only had the car for two days, but kind of liking the hill-holder thing so far? Seems like it just a different driving dynamic to get used to, the whole car is completely different than my 02 wrx anyhow.. between this and the insanely light clutch feel (which I love), what's the big deal?

this may be a dumb idea but....i got this from crotch rocket tricks for the tip over switch...take the sensor out and drill a tiny hole through the plastic and fill it with glue or epoxy etc when the sensor is the "flat" position so it cant move? i dont have one and havent looked at one but maybe its a thought?

My guess would be that it isn't a mechanical level sensor, but instead an electrical level sensor like the one in the Wii remotes. I could be totally wrong too, though.
