Default Help got my first check engine light today

Hey I just got my first check engine light today!! I believe the code was 2044 or 0244 i think 2044 though. I was shifting into fifth the car spiked and lost power then regained and the check engine light came on. I pulled over checked the code with the AP then reset the ECU. Now all is good the light is gone and everything, BUT I'm a newbie to these things. I know resetting the ECU doesnt fix anything... Should I bring it to the dealer? or is i all good? My friend was telling me that these new cars are mostly computer so if it's gone and doesnt come back on its all good nothing to worry about. Please need some help

244 code - boost solenoid failure..... get a protune or stop doing 5th gear pulls.

To elaborate on what twigg said, you are seeing a boost spike or creep and hitting the built-in fuel cut safety. There are two ways to fix this. If you are only running stage 1 then you can try changing out the restrictor pill or get a Protune to have the boost spike removed (or at least minimized)

Until then, you can minimize the chance of a boost spike by not doing any 2-3K RPM pulls in 5th or 6th. Even 4th gear might give you a problem. Definitely downshift if you need to pass or accelerate hard.

By the way, are you stage 1 (tune) or stage 2 (dp + tune)?

Your tuner can correct for problem spots in the OTS map like the noted boost spike. They can also ususally improve hp/tq and power delivery without being too agressive and they can tune for specific mods that the OTS may not be able to adapt to. I'll definatley be going with a protune in the future.

is it pointless to get a protune for stage 2 and a catted dp?

I have an error in my AP it said : P0244 turbocharger wastegate soloniod "a"
range / performance its overboost problem . Easy to fix just buy a Greddy Profec B spec 2 Boost Controller ( no restriction pill ) thats what my protune did and i ran 8 times in 1/4 miles with no problem at all. No more check engine.
