Default What oil filter and oil?

Yes, I did search already.. My first Subaru.. What is the consensus on the best oil filter to use, and best brand oil once I switch to synthetic.

OEM filter is the best.

WolfPlayer was nice enough to cut up most of the filters out there and compare them. Check it out for yourself: bescaredracing.com - /sti/oil/filters/compare/

Most of the popular after market ones are downright scary.

Check the GDB technical forums for more info on oil. The manual recommends 5w30. a lot of people run German Castrol 0w30, Motul 5w30 or 5w40, Amsoil, etc.

I avoid Mobil 1 like the plague. My car drank it.

Hey Claude! Didnt know you were on here.

Napa Gold oil filter and Amsoil 5W-30 on my WRX.

I'll be using a stock oil filter and Motul 5W-30 on my STI I think. Haven't had a chance to change the oil since I bought it.
