Drove 360km to Ottawa and averaged 24mpg or 9.8L/100KM in S-mode, mostly highway cruising at 115km/h and 100km/h (lower speed limit highway). If I had kept going I'd probably have gotten 600km out of my tank. I'm pretty happy with that.

I drive in major traffic. At least 2 hours per day. The only reason the mileage is not worse is because on the way home, there usually is not as much traffic. I usually drag behind trailers or on the next lane (not too close) and do about 55 MPH.

You know you can turn it off, right? Out of sight, of of mind.

The most notable thing I take from your post is how quickly gas prices have gone up over the past couple of months. I don't know where you live, but in Southern CA I paid $4.09 last time (for 91) and that was at the cheap gas station.

How many RPM do you guys turn in 6th at about 75mph?

I turn about 3800 in my RX8. 4.44 rear end gears FTL.

~3000. Loafing comparatively, but only a 6700 rpm redline as opposed to your 9k. Id have a lot of love for some with the stones to get a built Cosmo motor into their RX8.

Its been done. Not in the US as far as I know but a 20b has been put in I think in Japan.

3000 is a good number. That is about what I would expect. I just wanted to compare. I remember turning around 3500 in my WRX's and I got about 25mpg. One was an 04 and the other was an 06. The 04 had a full exhaust and a "stage 2" tune. The car made STI power and still got 25mpg.

At 3800 even the stock exhaust of the RX8 starts to drone. Its driving me nuts. Also getting 230hp and 160tq for 20 mpg does not cut it anymore. Especially when I can't shift over 4000 or my fuel economy tanks to the mid to low teens.

Yes, I am trying to get a AW 2008 STI.

My first full Tank w/the COBB Economy reflash...27.1 MPG.That was driving 60 MPH to give all the douche bags a chance to have a look at my car driving to and from work.

And before I filled her up... I reflashed Stage 1,and did a 135mph cruise for about 4miles.

I doubt the VDC or DCCD settings would affect mileage at all. I'd air up your tires and make sure the car is well waxed (less wind resistance ! )

i've heard that an iwsti sticker is good for at least 1/2 of a mpg

i seem to be getting better mileage with the AP stage 1 & sport# (only 1/2 tank so far)

YMMV

I am getting about 19.3 at the moment. I was wondering if there are any mods to get better mileage? Is there 93 octane map that increases the economy? Is there anything else I can do in order to get better mileage? Thanks.

If those are city miles...your doing pretty good.
98% of my miles are hwy. I was getting over 25 mpg,but after I loaded the economy map off the COBB A.P. I'm getting a bit over 27mpg.

It's also all about how you drive.
