Holy crap...I thought I had an anomaly...I get 30mpg all the time when I set cruise to 55mpg during my 40+ highway miles on the way home. It goes to absolute sh*t once I hit the city, but I am incredibly happy with my 30mpg when I want it...normally I drive about 75ish and only get ~22mpg, but sometimes I just feel like setting the cruise and relaxing to music knowing that I could blow the doors off of almost every car that passes me.

I thought it would go back down fast. I filled up and hit the I5 straight away. The milage started at 26.6 and I thought it would go down, but it would go up every time I looked at it. I was shocked to hit 31.3 and even more shocked to maintain that for some time ( about an hour fifteen ). Problem is I dont want the ecu to learn how to go slow.

Gas mileage before 3,000 ~ 4,000 really doesn't matter. The engine isn't even broken in yet.

Turbo usage kills MPH, short shift @ 2,700 and you should see way better effeciency. Stopping and starting at lights actually hinder gas mileage and disrupt the ECU managment of the engine.

Subaru really needs to move to DFI quickly... it's the only thing really holding me back from buying a new STI.

On my most recent trip, I took it really easy on the way back. In S#, cruising at around 80-100km/h and short shifting between 1800-2400rpm accelerating from lights, I got an AMAZING 7.6L/100km. I had to double check and sure enough it stayed between 7.6L/100km and 8.4L/100km. This is with the Cobb stage 1 93 octane map. I was amazed.

I confirmed the mileage at 28mpg. Unfortunately, about 360km into my trip, the twisties started and I ended up with 11.6L/100km.

so far this summer(june to now.... tucson's 90+ to 115+ degree heat) with 98% AC usage, i'm averaging 20 to 22mpg with fairly normal driving with Perrins 91 stg1 map... mix of about 40% highway and 60% city... best of 24mpg in the cool months (feb when i first got it to june) without any ac usage

This tank I am averaging 24mpg on I mode with perrin's 91 stg1 map and driving like a nanny...(still with full time AC usage), for about 100 miles. I just reflashed to the econo map from Cobb... gonna see how well i can get it for the rest of the tank. Too bad when I go back to Perrin's map, I'll have to have it re-learn.

just completed a round trip; Houston to just south of Sarasota FL. On the way there just myself in the car + a bit of luggage and I stuck to I10, and I75 at 60 - 80ish mph avg 23+- mpg S# A-. On the way back and now with my wife and daughter and a boot load of luggage same interstate mpg, however we took a bit of a detour along the coast south of Tallahassee along hwy 98 to Destin. Stuck to the speed limit with cruise ctrl S# A- 55mph 27+-mpg for +- 1/2 a tank

i grannied the subie on the economap, and i only got 22.7mpg (this is still in 100+ AZ weather, so near 100% AC usage)... I just made a trip from AZ to LA and back, using Perrins 91mpg map and got 22.6 on tank 1(manual calculation), and 22.3 on tank 2(manual calculation), and at this moment approx 22ish on tank 3(dash readout... quite accurate, within +-.6 mpg)... but I had a LOT more fun having S# A- the whole trip and 70-80mph... Sooo with my own result, economode = thumbsdown. I need to get to Stage 2 sometime soon, so I can see the mpg results that you all see... I'd love to consistently get 28+mpg without grannyshifting

I'm in Houston, so the A/C is running constantly this time of year. I've been getting around 20mpg with normal driving in moderate traffic back and forth to work. I have found I get around 23 on the hwy at the 65 to 70 mph speed limits around here.

I did just flash to Stage 1 this past weekend, so I'm curious to see how my next tank goes. I'm still in the break in period, so my driving is fairly consistent. With my '05 WRX, going to Stage 1 got me around a 2 mpg improvement. We'll see what I get on the STI at Stage 1.

I could care less about the gas mileage, though. Gas isn't that expensive, and I don't drive much during the week.

Well with everyone, and Guy asking for proof. Here's your proof. I get 420+ mi from about 14 gallons on each fill up, its glorious!

You guys just need to drive slower

Sustained 31.8mpg +/- 1 of course.

What I got for the last 15 miles

Current mileage

Wow that is impressive Arcticsun . I have about 3400 miles on mine and i have a hard time getting over 24 for a entire tank.

In fact i been filling up at around 290 to 310ish. I think my last tank worked out to be 21.7.

You guys are all nuts as far as I'm concerned. I have nothing agaist getting good fuel economy, but then why buy and STi. There are plenty of small Hathces that will cost you much less to buy and give you greater fuel economy.....I never take my Mt. Bike off my roof, I have my windows open and the AC blowing and I never let the rpm's drop below 4000........nothing feels better than blowing away a sports car with my bike on the roof.......screw fuel economy I didn't buy an STi to drive like my gramma....all turbo all the time!!!

p.s. did I mention I work in the oil industry.....just supporting my business!!!
Global warming..........Hogwash!
