Default ECUīs for the 08 STI

Ok guys, after much frustrated research, I came to the conclusion that I need an ECU that would work with the stock ECU (I think it is called a Piggyback system), my problem is that I do not know if my ECU could support an AP reflash (my ECU is "probably" different from yours as I bought my STI in Mexico), so my question is, who makes the best "piggyback" ECUīs available now for the 08īs.
Please do not kill me, Iīve had my STI for over three months now and nobody seems to care (except one really nice vendor who canīt help me right now), probably b/c I am the only one in this situation on this forum. Besides, this list will be helpful for everybody new to the 08 STIīs.
Thanks .

if you don't have to pass emissions inspections in mex, then get a hydra, motech, or some other standalone. it will give you SO much more. BUT you need a top notch tuner to do it for you.

Contact Cobb Tunning (CobbTuning.com - Home Page) they can probably help sort out what version of the ECU your car got and if they have anything that will work. (This is for an AccessPort.)

For a piggyback contact TurboXS (Turbo XS) to see if they have a UTEC/Delta out for the 08 STi yet.

Like monk said, a full ECU replacement like the Hydra or Motech might work also.

Thanks guys,
Monk; we do have to pass emissions in Mexico, why is that a problem with the Hydra or the Motech, and, which one is better?
Another problem, the best tuners around are like 300 miles away, I think that will be a problem with altitude, weather, etc.

kts262; I allready contacted Cobb, donīt get me wrong, they were nice and all but, the short of it...sorry..., canīt help you there buddy.
Turbo XS was my first option like a month ago, but in my area there is only viviracing willing to protune my baby with UTEC, and then, nobody in this forum likes vividracing, so...Iīm back at square 1.

Btw, whatīs wrong with vividracing and subarus?

What would you guys do

If there is an OBD2 requirement for passing your emissions testing, you lose that functionality with stand alone ECUs like the hydra and motec.

Vivid is known for charging people for parts and then never shipping them.

They are also known for making crappy knock offs of other people's parts.

I dont understand why the ECU would be any different...maybe the stock tune would be different, but I would think that the cobb should work just fine as long as you have access to at least 91 oct...
