Default Brakes are a little soft?

Anyone else find the Brembos (These are brembos, right?) a little soft? It seems like they need more pressure than normal to stop. Has anyone tried bleeding the brakes on the 08 STI, maybe I have some air in there?

Steel lines solved that issue for me.

I noticed this too. I test drove a car before I bought the one I now have and it was soft too. Almost couldn't stop at an intersection.

Where did you get the lines from?

SS Lines, and brake fluid fixed that issues.
We took the car out to a track day 100% stock, and that was the major down side. After Lines and Fluid there was no soft pedal. Or not until the pads got overheated.

Dan is the man at RallySportdirect. He gave a good price around $100 plus ship. Give him a call.

My brother's office-mate track races a 240SX and drove my car around the block once and that was his biggest complaint, soft brakes. It doesn't bother me enough to replace the lines (but im sure i will eventually as it is a cheap mod)

RSD, what lines do you sell for the '08 STI? I like the Goodridge; I have them on my z06. What fluid did you go to, DOT4? Do we have to do an abs flush when changing fluid?

What is the difference between these and the previous models? People keep saying this about them, and I'm wondering why they are different.

Right now only TechnAFit has them available.

The Lines are a bit different. on the Chassis side. They will not interchange.

I've noticed that too. The stopping power on the street is definitely there but you've got to get into it a bit for them to really bite. Unfortunately, I have no recollection of my '05 when stock as I had SS lines and RBF600 fluid in there about a month or two after I got the car.

I noticed this when I test drove an 08....I thought something just wasn't broken in yet. Oh well, an easy fix.

It was good for the first 1500kms or so... then the brakes were making a loud low "rrrrrrrrrooooom" noise. From that point on the brakes got worse and lost it's initial bite. Found out the brake pad material was cracking. Took it back to my dealer and had a mechanic test drive it and he agreed that something wasn't right. So i'm getting new pads tommorrow as a warranty replacement. I'll see how that goes.

since i had my lines installed, i had the system bled 4 times, with dot 5.1, and even now i still have a soft pedal , softer than stock.
it s a damn nightmare for me, nobody in my area seems to be able to properly bleed brakes make sure you find a trusty mechanic.
