From subaru's technical manual, it looks to me like you might be better off in OFF mode for serious tracking. Note that TCS stands for traction control system:

Same on just about any car with VDC, VSC, ASC or AH or whatever you want to call it. Mostly because it will cook your brakes in short order if you leave it on.
