Default Gas Lever

So I just got my STi brand new 08, and I cant seem to figure out the gas door and lever. I pull it up and let it go and still doesn't open. Only time it works is when I pump it then go to it and push the top left so it opens. Anyone else with an 08 STi tell me if this is normal or if I am doing something wrong?

Hmmm, that's definitely not normal. Mine pops open just enough to put a finger in to open it. It sounds like your filler door latch might need adjustment.

I have the same issue. There is a metal clip near the hinge that needs to be adjusted. I would bring it back to the dealer and have them fix it. This will also help alert SOA that there is an issue. This doesn't seem to be an STI specif issue. There are a few people over at 3gwrx.com that have the same problem

Maybe bend the metal out a little so it pops out harder?

Yes...that's basically the fix, but the OP should go to the dealer. This way a report is filed with SOA. This way they can track the problems with our cars.

I have had the same issue, but eventually it would open. I will mention it to the dealer next trip per Edvig's good suggestion.

I had the same issue as well. I had to pull the lever a few times and it would usually only open just a bit, then I'd have to be careful to get my fingers on the edge just right without it popping back shut.

This is exactly what happens when I try to open my gas tank too.

same here. it opens a crack and i have to use the credit card to open the door and pay for the gas! bending the clip is tricky-too much and it falls off.finally i got it right.
