Default Gas saving shift light in I-mode?

Has anyone else noticed that the I-mode has its own little yellow shift-light for "gas savings" ()? While I'm not sure I'll ever use it or how that will work for a reflashed car, I thought it was kind of neat.

I'll check tomorrow but it wouldn't surprise me if it was programmed against what is listed in the manual for "optimal shift points".

When mine is in I-mode i see a Green triangle near the mode indicator, it flashes 3 or 4 times at some really low RPM (~2.5-3k). I thought it might be an eco-helper, or a reminder to switch to S#.

Haha, mines green.

The shift light is variable. My guess is that the ECU sees different loads and determines if you still want to accelerate, it will delay the light.

You're talking about two different things - one is the user programmable shift light that functions in all SI modes. When in I you get a little blinking green arrow when it recommends you to shift.

I found that shifting at the lower recommended rpm in I mode has a dual function - it makes the car a pig AND doesn't give you any better gas mileage.

absolutely. the only benefit of the little green arrow is to remind you that you have a hot chick sitting next to you who will think that you are compensating for a small penis if you dont listen to it.

yep! it is set ridiculously low but at least it stops flashing, and doesn't try to keep "remind ing you"

i see it all the time during my rush hour commute, when i flick in in "I"

I know what this shift light is..... so I am not talking about to different things. The little green arrow blinks in I, S, and S# mode at around 2-2 1/2rpms.

BTW this isnt my first STi.
