no reason to get rid of it just set it at redline. you shouldn't be sitting at redline for any extended period of time so it shouldn't bother you there. the light and beep really are helpful when things are happening quickly.

You need to be stopped, then hit the mileage button thing on the dash until you see the rpm setting. hold it down to change the RPM, and just set it high.

My only problem is that the damn beep isn't loud enough and you cant see the light if you are actually looking at the road.

hold it until the number starts flashing and then push in the odometer reset knob and hold it in until the number starts to change and then release when it gets to the value you want.

Is it just me, or is the beep quieter than it was in previous years? I remember the one in my 04 being much louder.

I thought the same thing. It is quieter than my '05 was. Sometimes I don't even hear the one on the '08 go off.

It's in the owner's manual. Very detailed about what and how to set and how to disable it.

In "the business" we usually shorten threads like this to simply: RTFM

Really? I found the beep to be VERY noticeable. I could never hear my '05 beep.

As for the original question, if you just want to disable the beep, but still keep the flashing light at a usable RPM (i.e. not redline), do the following:

Press the odo reset button until REV is displayed.
Press and hold the odo reset button for 2 seconds.
Press the odo reset button - the thousandths number flashes.
Press the odo reset button - the hundredths number flashes.
Press the odo reset button - the display should show "b - on" or something similar.
Press and hold the odo reset button until "b - off" is displayed.
Press the odo reset button.

The '04-'07 method of twisting the knob was much more straightforward.
