Default Factory Sirius

The Dealer wants to charge me 2 hours to install the factory Sirius box! Does anyone know how intensive this install is? Any help would be great. On my previous 2 cars, I installed them my self in 5 minutes.

Anything over one hour would be pushing it. But I guess two hours is feasible. An 08 must be at least somewhat similar to an 07. You just pull radio, install tuner, pull some trim pieces, install antenna wire and antenna, then replace everything. Not hard. I believe the tuner even comes with instructions....

Yeah, just do it yourself. It's actually easier than the '07s. You pull the surround panel, then the radio is right there in front of you. The factory setup is to mount the antenna in the upper-right corner of the windshield. I had great luck simply placing it up under the dash, as it's all plastic there and no metal in it's way.

If you go here... Subaru Technical Information System - Home and click Reference Publications, 2008, STi....and then go to Free Publications > Accessory Installation Guides, you can find the instructions on installing the Sirius tuner.

I would like to add, I got my '08 STi with the Sirius tuner, and I would lose the signal all the time. It would say Loading...Loading...Loading...It wasn't intermitent. It would happen in the same spots, the same street corners, overpasses, etc. So I decided to try a new antenna. I took the Sirius tuner out (it's mounted right above the radio) and found that it had an XM antenna connection. I hear XM and Sirius antennas are all the same, they just have different connectors. I bought the TERK XMicro2 antenna. I actually set it right on top of the Sirius tuner. Yes, under the dash. And now my signal is great! It never says Loading anymore. I have heard it cut out for a second, but it comes right back on. Now I just need to remove that huge antenna that comes from the dealer.
