Default Subaru OEM boost gauge work on '08?

I am looking for a small quality boost gauge. All I've seen that I like the look of is the defi, but at 52mm, its not exactly small. Is it possible to order the boost factory boost (steering column) gauge from Subaru and make it work on the 2008 sti?

Default boost gauge

It makes me crazy that Subaru doesnt give us a factory boost gauge. My old 05' had the defi triple gauge cluster which looked awesome but the 08s dont seem to have that as an option. where are you all putting your boost gauges? Ive seen one other thread on this but only a few pics and only a few options. post pics thanks

Subaru has always had a factory boost gauge as an option and one is available for the '08 WRX and '08 STI:

The gauge looks a lot nicer this year and Subaru probably contracted out to Defi; the similarities are striking (and it's rumoured Defi created the gauge cluster for the 04-07...maybe even '08.)

I don't know if this is available as a dealership option like the older (much uglier) boost gauge. For that price though, I'd probably just buy the Defi boost gauge.

That looks nice...I like that it matches the 08 STI cluster dials. But $330 + shipping from Japan = ouch...

That's why I would just go with the Defi boost gauge. RallySportDirect has a picture of one mounted on the side just like the pic (link) above and it is a great match.

What's the cost for the Defi guage? Does it require the Defi control unit?

About $97 for the Control Unit II and $230 for the boost gauge. The control unit lets you record the last 3 minutes, set the warning level, etc, which is an added bonus.

aren't the subaru boost gauge in hg not in psi? i seem to have read this somewhere, please correct me if im wrong. i would go with the defi cuz it'll match your dash gauges. regarding the placement of the gauge, thats up to you. personally, i like column mount cuz it doesn't stick out on the dash board and not totally visible.

I've merged the "boost gauge" thread that was in the General section with this thread. See my post here.

The new boost gauge from Subaru looks like the Defi, is 52mm, and looks like it is measured in kPa.

Thanks for the info Digital. I guess I'll wait to see what the Subaru gauge costs when it hits these shores, and is in PSI instead.
