| Authorized Vendor | I have noticed noise from what I think is my throwout bearing after starting the car when it is bone cold. It sounds like a rotational grinding noise and only happens with the clutch out. When I put the clutch in it goes away. It has been doing this for about two or three weeks. After a minute or so the noise goes away completely. I have about 1600 miles on the car currently. I really don't want to have to swap the damn TO bearing as it's such a PIA. Anyone else getting any noises like this? Tony This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Authorized Vendor | Could the signs be reversed if it is a pull type instead of push? I haven't taken it apart yet so I don't know. Wonder how many other examples of this are out there? Tony |

Does the STi have a single mass flywheel in there? That could be the reason. Single mass flywheels do transmit noise at idle, though it usually doesn't go away when the car gets warm (AFAIK). |

I'm pretty sure only the '04-'05 was a pull-type. Starting in '06 I believe Subaru went to a push-type. | |

There are a lot of things it could be imo. I think it has a lot to do with the way the throwout bearing mounts to the clutch fork. Something is always touching in that area. Anyways, Both of my friends (Who have aftermarket clutches have this problem). On one of the cars, I really lubed up the clutch fork guide rod and clutch fork to throwout bearing and the car made no rattles for weeks. Then one day it started up.
