Default '08 STi - CODE P0244 - Overboost

5th gear, 4K RPM, WOT to pass, fuel cut at 5K RPM. CEL P0244 (Turbo wastegate solenoid "A" Range/Performance) on my '08 STi. COBB Catted DP and Stg 2 93 Oct map since Wednesday of this week. Chris @ Cobb suggested resetting the ecu and that perhaps that should have been done before the Stg 2 base flash. i've cleared the code and reset, but haven't made it out to try and replicate the code. perhaps later.

BTW, I had the Stg 1 93 Oct map flashed for two weeks with no issues whatsoever.

anybody else throw a CEL yet?

I'm running a catted DP and stock CB. One would think it wouldn't be an issue.

"COBB Catted DP and Stg 2 93 Oct map since Wednesday of this week." ~100 miles before the CEL. Temps have been consistent all week.

every car is different it seems. invest in a boost gauge.

how much boost are you hitting? Use the AP to check.

in that case, give it some time to learn

when i went stage2 on my '04 i had fuel cut and overboost issues for about two weeks, then it seems like the ecu adapted, and it never happened again.

The ECU can only output about 18.4 psi in stock trim. The Accessport therefore only goes up that far.

Hopefully you don't need to modify anything. But when getting a catback, it may get worse. You must have a slightly less efficiant wastegate.

What RPM did you start fully accelerating at when this happened?

It's not the that he has a Cobb catted DP, but the fact that the '08 STi is very sensitive to modifications of flow in and out of the motor.

Ahh, I see. I hope they can figure out the maps for air boxes later - I'm waiting for COBB to release theirs so I can get a little more cacophony in the ****pit (I love intake noise)!

Droideka, When COBB told you to reset the ECU, was it to relearn more quickly rather than just taking it easy for a couple weeks? That is, did he comment on the ecu "learning" aspect and that it may be the cause?

I have a Cobb catted DP with AP Stage 2 map, Cali edition, with no issues...yet??? I'm getting paranoid with boost spike but it's good to know the engine goes into limp mode and does not go kaboom.

Also, I've pushed the car to redline in 1st & 2d with no issues (although I know boost is highest on 3d through 5th). I have exceeded 5K in 3d with no issues either. Keeping my fingers crossed.
